Resurrection Lutheran Preschool

Resurrection Preschool offers a nurturing and positive
environment
for children. Establishing a close relationship
between home and school
is all part
of maintaining
a firm and successful foundation for our children
.

Our lead teachers and assistant teachers are certified and knowledgeable
of early childhood expectations. They are aware of child development
and strategies needed to assure success. At Resurrection Preschool,
children will get a solid foundation for their future education
which is rooted in Christian values
.

Partnering with Parents

As part of the ministry of Resurrection Lutheran Church, the Preschool has provided Christian Education in partnership with parents for 64 years. We follow New York State guidelines for preschool children.

Teachers share classroom information and pictures weekly with the parents via email.

Our goals are to enable your child to  learn and grow socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually.

  • In the Time for Twos program, the focus is on learning to socialize, make friends and play together. The children attend school for two hours either two days or three days per week. They develop conversation skills and learn to share. The children feel safe, comfortable, and enjoy learning. Each day they complete a craft and have playground, gym, music and playtime. In the spring, we offer Soccer Shots after school to support following directions and further development of coordination skills. In February, their schedule is extended by thirty minutes in preparation for the three-year-old program.

  • In the three-year-old program, the boys and girls continue to learn and practice social skills as they interact with one another. In the classroom, they focus on colors, recognizing numbers, shapes, and learn letter names. Beginning math skills are introduced as well as beginning science concepts.  Large and fine motor skills are a part of everyday activities. Recess and outdoor playground time is provided each day. Music and chapel are scheduled each week. We also offer an optional fifth day for further enrichment if the parents choose.

  • In the four-year-old program, we continue to focus on socialization, language skills, vocabulary and expression. Letter sounds and the blending of sounds are introduced, which leads to emergent reading and writing. Proper letter formation is also practiced. Math skills and science concepts are introduced and practiced. Expanding of daily vocabulary as well as science and social studies terms is encouraged. Teachers share fiction and nonfiction reading materials with the children.

  • The transition program is intended for children who need more reinforcement of the four-year-old curriculum. They may need more time developing social skills or self-confidence and may need extra review and support. Children who are close to kindergarten age, but not yet eligible for school, would be included in this group. The children continue to focus and expand on all elements learned by the four-year-old group.
